Maths Champions – how it will benefit your child.

At KSPG we are using the Maths Champion programme.

The Maths Champions programme is designed to develop maths teaching in Early Years settings.

Children’s early maths ability can be correlated with attainment in maths and other subjects in later life and supports children in subjects that will provide them with a strong start in life in key subject areas.

Maths is historically an area that many people are unsure of. By using the Maths Champions programme, we aim to increase children’s love of maths through hands on experiences.

Great News!

We have, once again, been rated "Good" by Ofsted and the inspector had some wonderful things to say about the setting:

"Children enter very happily and immediately settle to play."

"Staff create an environment where children are motivated and engaged in learning."

"Children behave well and show care and concern for one another."

"Staff are attentive to children's developing needs..."

"The manager and staff have a thorough knowledge of how to keep children safe from harm."

"Our Passion, Their Future"

The Children

At KSPG we ensure that all the children are nurtured to inspire confidence, we ensure that they are encouraged to learn resilience and together we all promote friendships. We believe that it is important that children feel listened to and valued and that they are given all opportunities to foster their imagination and creativity.

 Our Learning Environment

At KSPG, our rich learning environment has been specially designed to be stimulating and fun as well as calm and engaging. We promote several of Elizabeth Jarmen’s ideas of “communication friendly spaces,” by creating little semi-enclosed areas that will promote conversation. We have also created a natural environment wherever possible, modelling the ideas of the Reggio Emilia approach to early years education. We believe that creating the best learning environment possible is key in nurturing happy, successful children.

Positive, caring relationships based on trust and respect, are at the heart of what we do and are the foundations of our ethos above.

We have a clear vision of what we want to achieve at Kings Stanley Playgroup:

  • to provide a safe, happy, caring and stimulating environment for our children
  • to enable all children to develop their capabilities as successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society.
  • to help all children to prepare for their future.

Kings Stanley Playgroup: a place to learn, develop and flourish

Kings Stanley Playgroup is a registered charity. This means that we are non-profit organisation. The playgroup is ran by a committee of volunteers (trustees of the charity). The committee must legally contain a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and at least two general members (but no more than nine) - 40% of these must be made up of current parents of the playgroup. Internally, the playgroup is managed by a very experienced early years manager.

Fees and funding are required for the day to day costs, however for anything extra, the playgroup must actively fundraise (see our fundraising page for what we're up to this school year!) We have just finished our amazing Sensory Garden and are now brainstorming for our next project!
